On the limestone of the Aravis

Classical dance on the perfect grain of the Aravis.

With Aude.

Thirsty for limestone, we go back for more in a style typical of the Aravis: dance steps and delicate moves are on the programme of two very beautiful routes: Les Koalas on the Tournette and Oiseau de Feu on the Mamule.

Calcaire des Aravis
The theme: slabs, slabs, slabs!

Despite a rather welcoming profile, climbing on these perfect limestone slabs demands flawless footwork. Through finesse, you gain confidence and the magic works: balanced on improbable friction, it holds!

Les Koalas on the Tournette is a beautiful introduction: a subtle start and a splendid finish, with a major second-to-last pitch!

Les Koalas on the Tournette.

Like small islands lost in a frozen ocean, a few more positive niches offer a rest before setting out to sea again.

Adhérence
Perfect grooves and grippy texture.

L'Oiseau de Feu on the Mamule is a flagship route of the Aravis, and its reputation is well deserved! Despite the lack of exposure, the climber will be delighted by the 350m of sublime, sustained climbing at the grade.

One of the wonderful 6c pitches of L'Oiseau de Feu.

Two very beautiful days of pure-pleasure climbing!
